Overview:
Rhu Bru Pty Ltd was established in 2003. It is located in Scottsdale, Tasmania, Australia. Rhu Bru is a private company producing high quality, rhubarb-based fine foods, namely juice and syrups. The Company is owner operated. The company''''s vision is to have its quality Tasmanian products available on the world market.
Our current product range is available here and includes:
- Rhubarb juice drink
- Rhubarb syrup
- Rhubarb vinegar
- Rhubarb relish
- Rhubarb & ginger jam
- Natural rhubarb concentrate (only in bulk)
Production:
A specially designed extraction plant for the rhubarb concentrate was commissioned in 2009. It can process 1000kg of rhubarb stalks per boiling and has the capacity to produce 500 L rhubarb concentrate per 24 hours.
The products ingredients are mixed by weight to produce the finished product. Our products are constantly quality controlled by independent laboratory testing.
The processing plant plant has an approximate capacity of 500 bottles/jars per hour. The plant is semi automatic hot processing with following equipment:
- Benchmark labeller
- Hot quick coder for date stamping
- Manual bottle washing unit
- 4 head filler
- Capvit capper.
- 300L vat
- Bottle/jar washing sterilisation machine
Company:
The owner/manager has a varied background, including dairy farming in Denmark, establishing a jam and marmalade company in Tanzania, East Africa, which exported to major supermarket chains in Denmark and operating a successful mini-market in Australia. The business in Tanzania was handed over to local Tanzanians in 2000, the production expanded and is known as Golden Food Products.
The Company employ 15 people across the growing, hand picking, washing, sorting, extracting concentrate, bottling and packing of our rhubarb products for shipment. Orders are packed in our factory warehouse on to standard pallets in accordance with Customers order.
Rhu Bru have achieved recoqnition in the media as a producer of unique, rhubarb products. Inclusion in the 2009 publication Tasmania''''s Table was an achievement as was the Landline programme on ABC television which focussed on rhubarb growing. Participation in local Tasmanian trade fairs has included: The Taste in Hobart over December/January 2009/2010, Festivale in Launceston in both 2009 and 2010 and Agfest in 2009.
Rhu Bru rhubarb based products is striving to grow an industry that will provide employment opportunities in our local region of North Eastern Tasmania. Rhu Bru also aims to develop a brand that will be recognised world wide as proudly Australian.
We believe we are the first commercially produced rhubarb juice and syrups in Australia – maybe the world! The versatility and unique taste of our products offers the buyer something new and just a little different.
